Certification and quality
Efficient, but more importantly, applied regulations that determine quality and safety criteria for candles, are still lacking in Italy. Nevertheless, the Cereria Terenzi has always adhered to two recognised European authorities: R.A.L., a German organisation which deals with licensing quality brand names, and R.E.A.C.H., a European regulation for chemical substances, that has now become a stringent law (L. April 6, 2007 n.46) for all European produced candles. And that is not all! All the raw materials used by the Cereria Terenzi comply with American quality and safety standards which are much tougher than European ones (consumer associations in the USA have been aware of the risks associated with candle burning for some time). |

The label. The label. Similarly to other products, such as foods, the label is not a mere detail, but a fundamental element that provides a considerable amount of information. It is important to be able to check the name of the producer, the importer and have a clear indication of the country of origin. Beware: some labels with the CE logo, do not refer to the European Community safety stamp, but rather to a China Export product. A fine example of a misleading message, or at least of an ambiguous one …
The duration of the candle. Just one simple example is enough to illustrate this question: a small “tea-light” style candle produced by Cereria Terenzi lasts more than 6 hours, whereas other, lower-quality candles, which are identical in style, burn away in less than 45 minutes. Quality candles can be recognised so: they burn in a regular fashion and last much longer. They are, therefore, more economical, even from a point of view of quality/price ratio!

1. Raw materials of the highest quality (paraffin, wicks, colourings, perfumes).
2. Health and safety protection for workers in the waxworks.
3. Recycling of materials and refuse separation (paper and cardboard, plastic, glass).
4. Zero environmental impact, thanks to the use of clean energy and water conduced heat, reuse of all water with no emissions into drainage systems.
5. Commitment to defending and increasing the value of the territory, common good and heritage for conservation and improvement.
6. Constant striving for research and innovation, thanks to use of ecosustainable and innovative technologies, often unique in the world.
7. Use of air purification and extractor systems which permit collaborators to work in a completely healthy environment.
8. Ethical assessment of suppliers’ and external collaborators’ work procedures. External contracting of procedures (packaging, packing) to social cooperatives.
9. Support of research into renewable vegetal raw materials, to find alternatives to mineral-based paraffin.
10. Great attention to internal training programmes, commitment to forming professional figures who, instead of remaining general operators in the sector, become authentic master chandlers, craftspeople of the art of candle making.
11. Significant incentives to employment of female workers: the waxworks has a team of highly competent and specialised ladies. Company policy at the Cereria fights the phenomenon of temporary work for female workers by training its staff and employing them with indefinite contract terms, thus guaranteeing them dignity in their roles as mothers, offering flexible timetables and periods of part-time.
12. Constant commitment to fighting counterfeiting. The Cereria offers consultancy on this issue to the RIS di Parma (Department of Scientific Investigation), the Guardia di Finanza (Financial Police) and many Italian Tribunals.
